What Concerns Does It Treat

Intense pulsed light is successful in addressing fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, visible capillaries and redness.

What To Expect

  • Also known as photorejuvenation, intense pulsed light is a non-ablative treatment that emits intense, visible pulses of light onto a targeted area without damaging the surrounding skin.

  • The light energy is absorbed by melanin (responsible for skin pigment) and hemoglobin (red blood cells in the blood vessels).

  • As a result, these structures become damaged and are absorbed by the body or brought to the surface of the skin where they will slough off.

  • A patch test is required for every patient before commencing a course of IPL treatments and must be completed 48 hours prior to the first treatment.

  • This is not a treatment we advise doing if planning a trip to the sun or a hot climate, and for this reason a lot of clients will opt to start their IPL course from September on.

Discomfort Level

IPL may cause a slight pinch or sting sensation but that subsides very quickly. This treatment is considered a tolerable one whereby no pain relief is needed.

Recommended Treatment Plan

While results may be visible after one session, a series of 4-6 treatments is typically recommended for optimal results. This will vary depending on the patients concerns and desired results.
