As collagen, elastin, fat, and hyaluronic acid reduce over time, the face can develop changes in volume, contour, tissue support, and skin laxity. Dermal fillers can be used as part of a treatment plan to restore structural support in selected areas.

Discomfort Level
Dermal filler treatment is generally well tolerated by most patients. Some areas can feel more sensitive than others, and patients may experience mild pressure, pinching, or stinging during treatment.
Temporary swelling, tenderness, or bruising can occur after treatment and usually settles within a few days. Numbing cream can be offered for sensitive areas where appropriate.
Recommended Treatment Plan
The recommended treatment plan is patient dependent. Dermal fillers are long lasting, although duration varies depending on the product used, treatment area, skin condition, metabolism, lifestyle factors, and individual response.
In general, results can last from 6 to 18 months. Your doctor will discuss a suitable treatment and maintenance plan during consultation.
Contraindications
Dermal filler treatment may not be suitable in certain cases, including:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Current course of antibiotics
- Active cold sores
- Active skin infection or inflammation at or near the injection site
- Known allergy to filler ingredients or lidocaine
- Severe autoimmune disorders
- Bleeding disorders
- Use of certain medications or supplements that affect bleeding
- History of anaphylaxis
- History of severe scarring
- Active systemic infection
- Feeling generally unwell
A consultation will be carried out before treatment to assess suitability.
