Anti-wrinkle Injections
Anti-wrinkle injections are neuromodulator injections that reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by temporarily relaxing facial muscles. Facial lines will subsequently soften following the treatment. Injectable anti-wrinkle treatments are amongst the safest and most effective positive aging solutions for temporarily renewing the appearance of the aging face. There are several areas of the face where neuromodulators are commonly used. The forehead consists of 3 main muscles (the powerful corrugator, the frontalis, and the procerus). These muscles cause forehead and frown lines while the orbicularis oculi muscles create crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes.
What Concerns Does It Treat
Anti-wrinkle injections treat signs of ageing, softening fine lines and wrinkles. They can also refine the jawline, reduce a gummy smile, smooth a dimpled chin, ease bruxism/teeth grinding, support jaw slimming, help with excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), and provide migraine relief.
What To Expect
- Initial consultation: discuss your concerns, goals, and expectations
- Quick, painless treatment
- The anti-wrinkle neurotoxin is injected with a very fine needle into the belly of the muscle
- Results start to show in 4–5 days
- Full effect at 10–14 days
Discomfort Level
Comfort levels can vary from person to person. The discomfort level of anti-wrinkle injections are generally very mild for most people. The injections are done with a very fine needle, so most people describe the sensation as a tiny pinprick or slight sting. Some areas (like between the eyebrows) may feel a little more sensitive than others. The whole treatment is quick—usually just a few minutes—so any discomfort is brief. We usually describe the discomfort level between a 2 – 3.
Recommended Treatment Plan
The effects of the wrinkle relaxing injection usually last three months, at which time another anti-wrinkle injection is required. After several treatments, the effects may begin to last longer, sometimes up to four to six months.
